Stormi's Review
11/1/03 at Stubb's BBQ, Austin, TX
Got to the club shortly before doors opened. Heard Aimee talking to some people and was glad to hear that her voice was doing much better. Doors opened and we went inside... all my thanks to human for putting me on the street team list. Went down stairs where the show was being held. Saw Jamie, talked to him for a second and asked him to hunt down Aimee for me.
The opening band was Girls in a Coma, and I'm sure you all have already heard what an amazing band they are. Their lead singer is 15 and has some of the most amazing vocal attributes I have ever heard...not to mention they covered my favorite Morrissey song! Aimee made her apperance, gave me a smile and a wave and went check out GIAC. After they got done playing she could not stop talking about how amazing they were :) I gave Aimee some sub club cards that I had been collecting for them. She was very excited and did this giddy little dance and gave me a big hug. I told her that we would be attending the Denver show, which she was very excited about. I went to buy the last patch they had, but Aimee refused to take my money because it had tape on the back (like I care!)... we all know how stubborn she can be! I told her she was getting my money one way or another, so I made her pick me out a shirt.
Lennon was next, who I was very excitied to see since I'd been wanting to see her for a good two years. Even though it was acoustic, it was a great show. Phil rocks.
TheSTART went on second. Even though Aimee was still getting over the bug she had, she still sounded lovely. Kicked it off with the1234 and proceeded through their typical GG setlist (DVS, Los Angelos, Peacocks, Glimmer Man, Nemesis, Gorgeous, Shakedown!). During "Gorgeous" when Aimee sang "I'd do anything for you" she reached out and held my hand. She always seems to point at me or something during that part of the song :) Got to share the mic with another theSTART fan that I met there during Shakedown. I closed my eyes for a second, opened them back up, and next thing I knew there was a mic in my face! When they finished the last song Billy wadded up the set list and chucked it at me! After they finished playing I hung out with Aimee for a while talking about veganism and such. I told her that she was the reason I'd changed from vegetarian to vegan, and she responded with, "I'm sorry for making your life difficult!". It was funny. Chatted briefly with Billy about our mutual love for John Bohnam (drummer of Led Zeppelin).
Lillix was on next. I'd never heard their music before, so I was curious as to what they sounded like. I was very excited to see that the drummer was left handed, because I'm a lefty drummer as well, and there's not to many of us out there! They put on a pretty good show, they weren't my style of music, but they are excellent musicians.
After Lillix I had to say my good-byes to everyone because I had to work early in the morning and had a 3 1/2 hour drive home. Got multiple hugs from everyone and headed out. I wish I would have hung around for Brassy because the other GGs I saw them at I absolutely loved them. All in all a fun show though!
