Phil's Review
11/21/03 at The Rave, Milwaukee, WI

Whoa. Milwaukee was definitely my best theSTART show yet, I have to tell you. The total package was really good and it was a really fun night, so that didn't hurt it too much either.

So theSTART came last and I was so excited for them to hit the stage again. I was sad at the same time too because who knows how long it's gonna be until I see them again but hey, that wasn't gonna spoil anything. Jenny came right up next to me before the set began. She mentioned something about hearing they might play "Her Song" tonight but they didn't end up playing it. They kicked in with "the 1234" again which was totally amazing. No singing from us during the chorus this time but OH MAN, does it get good from here.

"Los Angelos" is second and Aimee started by saying "I'm from Los Angeles and this is Los Angelos" which was totally awesome because I wasn't sure how to pronounce it, haha. Anyway... during the bridge, Echo jumped down from the stage and sat on the barracade and leaned her head on Jenny and sang the bridge to ME. I fucking melted right there I tell you. She then resumed her spot onstage to finish the song and play through "Death Via Satellite."

Aimee left the stage because of some mic trouble and we were kinda afraid that she wasn't going to return but she did and she sat at the edge of the stage by me and Jenny and dangled her feet for a bit and the band kicked into "Hi Flyer." She jumped down, climbed over the barracade and came onto the floor to sing the song and dance with us which was totally OUT OF THIS FUCKING WORLD. Not a lot of people dancing with her but I SURE AS HELL WAS. My neck is still really sore from that song, I think.

They played "Peacocks" next, which was really good, I love it. It sounds very 80s but with a lot of drums and I think one of the lines says something about "peacocks crashing down" but I'm probably just making stuff up so don't listen to me. Can't wait to hear it again on CD.

Next up came "Gorgeous" and it was really hard to understand what she was saying before it but I know she said "this is for Jenny and for Phil" which totally made me pee more than before.

"Nemesis" came rocking next with lots of dancing from us all and I think this was the point that Beav and some of the band members put the plastic plates on their faces and stood behind us. Aimee didn't notice until "Shakedown!" which came next... we shouted those "heys" like never before.

Overall, I think it was my favorite show for theSTART because it was totally nuts. Man, these two shows went by way too fast. They were one hundred times better than I ever imagined they could be.
